Nature Of Work:
This position performs HVAC services required to maintain, improve, and provide a functional and safe learning environment for students, staff, and the public.
Employee performs the full range of duties associated with installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Employee receives work orders indicating the nature of the work to be done. They are expected to determine the materials, tools, and repair procedures needed. Employee receives limited supervision. Employee operates equipment such as lifts. Assists other employees/trades and performs a variety of general maintenance and manual labor tasks as needed. Employee practices safe work procedures.
Typical Duties Of This Position:
Troubleshoot and repair electrical control circuits, using electrical test devices. Replace faulty thermostats, wiring, and controls. Clean, lubricate and service HVAC equipment. Repair or replace all equipment associated with HVAC and environmental controls. Form metal sheeting into duct. Remove and replace joints or lengths of pipe and duct in distribution systems. Adjust and balance distribution systems to achieve maximum even flows. Determine type and procure materials needed. Observe/monitor contracted work as needed. Perform general maintenance and manual labor tasks as needed. Assist other employees/trades as needed. Maintain records of material purchases and man-hour expenditures.
Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities:
Working knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of heatirng, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and equipment.
Working knowledge of electricity, refrigeration, and pneumatic controls.
Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions and determine repairs needed.
Ability to operate refrigerant recycle/recovery equipment.
Skill in the use of tools and equipment utilized in the repair of ventilation, and air conditioning.
Ability and physical strength sufficient to move objects.
Work independently in the absence of supervision.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Consequence Of Error If Not Performed Or Performed Poorly:
Work errors may be costly due to equipment damage, wasted material, and downtime.
Training, Experience, And Special Requirements:
High Diploma or equivalent.
2 years of considerable and progressively advanced experience in HVAC work.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
